Description
Added by Sassy Resuello
The highest peak in Simi Hills with an elevation of 2,405 feet. Offers 360 views of neighboring cities and mountains. Perfect for a half-day hike.
From the trailhead, simply follow the trail headed up the mountain. The first 2 miles is the hardest part of the hike, because of the steep ascent.
Continue on until you hit a junction. Turn left, and you will eventually see an old rusty gate, and a sign which says "China Flat Trail". You will hit a couple more junctions along the way, just stay left until you find yourself slightly descending the hill and walking through old oak trees.
The path eventually opens up into a meadow. Follow the trail until it leads you up with another ascent. This will be the last stretch before you reach the peak. Feel free to take rest stops on the way up. The views are spectacular, so it's nice to pause and take in the scenery before getting to the top.
You know you've reached the peak when you see a tiny rod among the rocks at the top, and a USGS marker. Give yourself a good amount of time to enjoy the panoramic views before heading back.
Return the same way you came.
