This great hike is just minutes from Stirling center and right behind the University of Stirling Campus. This is a gradual hike perfect for walking, running or mountain biking. There are beautiful vistas of Stirling and the surrounding area along the entire hike.
Dumyat (pronounced De-mai-it) is a hill in Stirling Scotland measuring 1,371 ft.
To arrive at the "Dumyat Path", from Stirling center head towards the University of Stirling via Airthrey Rd. As soon as you have passed the roundabout and University Rd West, you will be looking for your next right Kenilworth Rd, where you will again look for your next right, Sheriffmuir Rd, from here you will drive about a mile up the road where you will see a parking area with a big green sign that says "Pendreich" and you can park here for free.
From this lot you will need to follow the footpath to the start of Dumyat Path located behind a gate (right hand side after you pass the road intersection).
Dumyat Path is gradual and not strenuous. The area is home to sheep and it is very common to see them roaming around and grazing. The path itself is not marked but pretty straight forward. There are other paths you can take that will lead behind the University of Stirling, but just stay on the only one that looks like it leads up the hill.
From the parking area to the top of Dumyat is about 2 miles, 4 miles round trip. At this point you are starting about halfway up the hill so you will need to gradually go up about 600 ft.
Enjoy the views from the top especially for sunset but make sure you bring a flashlight if you hike down after sunset.
NOTICE - Some parts of the trail can get muddy and wet.
