With sweeping views of the beautiful Eagle Mountain Lake, hike up to ten miles of trails just outside of Fort Worth through beautiful cross timber forest.

Located just north of Fort Worth, Eagle Mountain Park offers about ten miles of trails (roundtrip, two different loops) with great views of the beautiful Eagle Mountain Lake, and serene walks through cross timber forest. There are two main loops. The northern loop is about 3.5 miles round trip. This loop goes through cross timber forest and eventually makes its way along the shore of Eagle Mountain Lake before going up a bluff where there are great views of the lake. The southern loop is about 6.5 miles round trip, but can be shortened to about 3.5 miles This loop spends more time in the forest, but does make it down to the lake eventually, where it follows along the lake shore for a longer stretch than the northern loop. The park can be busy on nice weekends, but parking is still not usually hard to find, and the park is so large, that crowds are not really a concern. The trails are for hiking only and pets are not allowed. The trails are easy for beginners, or advanced hikers who want a quick escape from the city, and are suitable for most ages. This park is great to visit any time outside of summer when it can get extremely hot in North Texas, and mosquitoes can get quite bad. Keep a sharp eye out, and you might see some wild deer or armadillos!
