An amazing short hike through forest, beach and eventually opening to an incredible bay. Great for solo hikers, families and groups...and some of the bluest water!
Once you get to the Turtle Bay resort, you just follow the signs to Kawela Bay/ the Stables. From there the signs are super easy to follow, with options ranging from 0.5mi to 3.0mi. and you can do this as a simple out-and-back or as a longer loop that takes you through Banyan forests, beaches and eventually Kawela Bay itself. It's not a technical hike by any means, just a series of casual path(s) that you can "choose your own adventure" on and wind up on an amazing beach.
You could potentially see turtles, whales, mongoose, and birds (of all kinds). The trail itself is a combination of sand, dirt, tree roots, and grass, so it can get a tad challenging at times. There is an old war bunker on the point that can be a reprieve from the sun, but it's not the nicest inside, so there's that. Besides Kawela, there are a few "beaches" that you can stop at to take a dip, relax, bring a picnic and stretch out.
Come back the way you came or make it one big loop. Stop off at Lei Lei's or the Kuhuku Superette (going north) or Pupukea Grill (going south).

Reviews
Even if you're not staying at T-bay, this is a cool little stroll around the property over to Kawela and gives you access to some pristine little beaches and places to jump in the water.
