This is an amazing non-technical hike in the Sawatch Range that leads you to the top of a 14er with breathtaking views.
If you have a 4WD vehicle, drive 2 miles from Winfield along a dirt road to the trailhead. If you don't have a suitable vehicle, you can park before the road gets rough and hike the rest of the road to the trailhead.
Starting at 10560 feet of elevation, this 6.5 mile roundtrip hike begins its 3500 foot elevation gain meandering through the San Isabel National Forest for a little over a mile until you break above the treeline into a high basin, northeast of Huron. Follow the trail through the basin and onto Huron's upper slopes. Reach the north ridge then continue on a steep 1/4 mile to the summit. Enjoy the breathtaking views from there!
Start your hike early in the morning to avoid encountering afternoon thunderstorms, a usual occurrence in the Rocky Mountains. This will ensure you have a comfortable and safe hike!

This is my favorite 14er! It's relatively easy as far as 14ers go and the views are stunning in every direction. It's amazing being up that high and not seeing any towns or roads in any direction. The top is a bit rough with scree and unstable rocks but completely doable. There are many free campsites on the road to the trailhead and I would highly recommend camping the night before your hike and waking up early the next day to get started hiking!

Great to have done Huron as my first 14er. Difficult due to East Coast lungs, but very doable! Epic views from the top, definitely recommend.
