Lantern Hill is a small portion of the Narragansett Trail, with so much to offer!
Lantern Hill in North Stonington, CT. has been one of my new favorite short hikes since I've been home for a long period of time.
Interestingly enough, the trail I've noted is right next to the Foxwoods Casino. In fact, one of them is actually in the back parking lot of a resort. So plenty of parking spots available.
From the resorts trailhead, it will take you onto a trail that splits into the Lantern Hill Trail and the Wintechog Hill.
From ridge lines, to view points, to forest trails, there is a variety of views. The blue trail marker will take you straight up to the main view point and back. The arrow head trail will take you on a loop on the ridge line, into the woods, and up to the view point and out following the blue marker down.
WARNING: Beware of snakes! I had done some reading on this trail before my first hike and was surprised to find one on the middle of the trail. Though, this trail is indeed dog and family friend, just be cautious of the snakes and steep climbs!
P.S. If you're looking for a longer hike, try 21.3 miles on the Narragansett Trail! It starts in South Stonington, CT to Ashville Pond in Hopkinton, Rhode Island

Reviews
I love this hike because it is a one of a kind in the area. It can be very steep depending on where you start and takes you up to a cliff edge for wonderful views. I also see people rock climbing here quite often

Nice hike but I was a bit baffled by the signage. At one point you come to what appears to be a private dump, you walk through this property until you come to a road, walk down the road and you will see more blue blaze marks. Unfortunately that portion of the hike is currently closed. I walked back on the road to the car.
