Arguably the best bang for your buck hike in Sequoia National Park. It's a short ascent with an incredible vista as the payoff.
A short hike with impressive views of Sequoia National Park, the Little Baldy trail is the less touristy version of Moro Rock. When we hiked it on a beautiful Sunday morning in the summer, we had the entire summit to ourselves. Even if other hikers had been up there, it would have still felt empty as Little Baldy is so large and offers 360 degree views.
To start the hike, you'll want to park on either side of the road at the trailhead right off the Generals Highway. It's about seven miles north of the Lodgepole Visitor Center and hard to miss thanks to the signage as you approach.
The trailhead is easy to follow. You'll hike up a few switchbacks and then the trail will flatten out as you wander through small pockets of forest on the approach to Little Baldy. You'll cross a granite outcropping but don't stop here as this is just a false summit. Continue on the trail and one final steep ascent awaits before you're at the top.
We hiked to the top in roughly 30 minutes at a fast pace and then trail ran back down in 15 minutes. We had planned for 2 hours doing the hike but nearly all our time was spent sitting on the summit enjoying the views. There are no restrooms or water available here so plan accordingly.

Reviews
Such a great hike. Lots of switchbacks to the overlook. The overlook is amazing even in a partially clear day! When I went there was almost no one else on the trail. Careful of your food and bags there are some seriously nosy marmots up there.
