A beautiful nature trail with stunning overlooks of the Texas Hill Country.
The Lost Maples East and West Canyon trail is an 11.30 mile out-and-back hike located in Lost Maples State Park, right outside of Vanderpool, Texas. The trail provides scenic overlooks, beautiful maple trees, and an abundance of nature. The trail, along with the park, is most known for its beautiful colors during the falls, when the foliage changes to shades of oranges and reds. The trail is highly trafficked.
Along the trail are a couple primitive camp sites. The West trail is mostly shaded with few elevated points, as you are in a canyon area. However the East trail is more exposed. Be advised that there are several extremely steep inclines (marked on the park map) on the trail. The best time to hike these trails are in the morning.
This trail is dog and family friendly, but remember that the inclines may be difficult to some. This trail is not particularly good for those who are have limited mobility.

Reviews
Start out pretty simple and then it escalated when we took the east trail. Rocky Boulder hopping straight up. But the views are amazing. Looking down at camp site c( which is no longer in use) and the river and then over the horizon. Wear good shoes, and hiking poles
