A 10 layer waterfall playground just north of Chiang Mai. Perfect for an afternoon of cooling off, jungle exploring, and waterfall showers.

To get there take the 107 north out of Chiang Mai until you get to the left turn onto 1096 (there are signs for Mae Sa Waterfall at the junction as well).  Continue on 1096 until you see the left hand turn into Doi Suthep National Park and the entrance for the waterfall.

Because this waterfall is in a national park, it will cost you 100baht per person to enter along with an additional fee for the vehicle you are in (we rode up here via motorbikes and had to pay 20 baht for each motorbike, so for two people on one motorbike it was 220baht).

After entering the park, follow the signs for the waterfall and you will reach a dirt lot where perfect for motorbike parking.  This is also where you will see the first layer of the waterfall.

From here pick your path (there are plenty of maps along the way), and have fun splashing around in the water.  You do gain elevation as you go up to the top waterfall, but nothing too crazy and definitely doable no matter the shape you are in. Just take your time and cool off in the water when you need to. Also the mud on the path can get slippery when it is wet so watch your footing if it has rained recently

If you get to the top waterfall and want to keep going, you can scramble up the rocks for quite a ways- that is what we did- but just be warned that the rocks are very slippery in some spots and one of my friends got leaches on himself in one of the pools.

The trail is about 1.5km to the top layer and then you can just head back down the way you came up.

This waterfall is definitely a must do if you find yourself in Chiang Mai for a few days.
