Great family hike amongst towering Douglas firs with 360 degree views at the summit

Mount Grant Preserve is still in the midst of becoming an official park, but is open to the public for hiking, so you will get to see this amazing spot before it's too crowded. With a trial system currently being made, most people hike up the established road, but there are well marked signs to hop onto the trail from the trailhead. Both go up very similar paths - one is just on a road and the other is a hiking trail.

The flora around here is just amazing and shows off why San Juan Island is such a gem to the area. After winding your way through impressive Douglas firs, the summit shows off 360 degree views of the island, in addition to views of Mount Baker, Glacier Peak and Mount Rainier.

There is a toilet at the trailhead and picnic tables and a bit of educational signage at the summit, but otherwise everything is very primitive. A great, easy hike to get some of the best views of the San Juans out there.
