Hike to the highest point in Crater Lake National Park with beautiful panoramic views.
The summit of Mount Scott is supposedly the only place where you can fit all of Crater Lake in one camera view! It's the tenth highest peak in the Oregon Cascades, but with it's well-maintained trails and gradual inclines, the hike can be great for families, too.
There can be snow near the summit (even in the summer time), so take care as you make your way across the ridge line. At the summit, there is a lookout, maintained in case of emergencies. The lookout was first built in the 1920s and was replaced in the 1950s due to its weakening original structure.
The views from the top are beautiful, ranging from Crater Lake itself to the sweeping Oregon landscape. Some notable peaks you can see from the summit are Mount Shasta, Mount Thielsen, and Mount McLoughlin. Lakes you can see in the distance are Diamond Lake and Upper Klamath Lake.
It's recommended that you bring a jacket or sweater as it does get quite windy near and at the summit.
