North Mountain is a short climb that offers great views of the valley. This is an easily accessible spot for anyone in the north Phoenix area.
Beginning from the start of the trail on 7th Street, this short hike can be a good quick workout that offers great views of the greater Phoenix area. Be aware that this hike is a fairly steep climb 600 feet to the top.
Once you reach the summit of North Mountain you'll find great views of the city in almost every direction. Look to the south and you'll see (drumroll please) South Mountain. Props to whoever named the mountains in Phoenix. Piestewa Peak can be seen to the southeast, the Estrellas to the southwest, and the White Tanks in the distant west. Shaw Butte is immediately to the northwest. Depending on the exact route you choose, much of the way to the summit is paved and smooth, but constantly uphill.
To get to the trail you'll need to take 7th St between the mountains and turn west on Peoria.

Reviews
Great hike, I did it at sunrise and the views were awesome!

This is a great hike doesn't require a lot of time or effort for most. Regardless if you choose to walk or run up this well maintained trail the resulting views are fantastic. The incline up is pretty drastic which will get that heart pumping and legs burning but it's a relatively short distance compared to most Valley hikes. I highly recommend you check this off your list.
