Impressive canyon with great views of the Sacramento Mountains. Historic Ranch House and a nice creek lined with cottonwoods. Great trails

This State Park is close to the city of Alamagordo , NM. It has a nice creek with water flowing during the rainy season. The Dog Canyon hike is hard but offers great views of the canyon and the canyon walls. Superb views of the Sacramento Mountains. The historic Ranch House can  be visited during by guided tours. The area is especially pretty in the autumn when the cottonwoods change color.

The only hard hike here is the Dog Canyon Trail. The other trails are easy to hike.
