The Freedom Trail, also referred to as the Piestewa Peak Circumference Trail, is a great trail that gives you views of the entire Phoenix Metro area. Bonus points for you if you tackle this around sunset - this urban park is technically open into the evening and provides an epic vantage point.
As the third longest trail in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, the Freedom Trail provides a great option for those looking for a longer hike, which can also be made even a bit longer by bolting on the Piestewa Summit hike along the way (adds 1.2 miles additional and a view from the top!). Many looking to train for a longer hike use the Freedom Trail in tandem with some others in the area to train for longer hikes in the Grand Canyon or elsewhere on the globe (helps keep your mind engaged, rather than going back and forth over one shorter trail!).
Most will access this trail from the Piestewa Peak Summit Trailhead, though there are a number of alternate access points, including from the 40th Street Trailhead, for those who really want to tack on some mileage (10.1 miles all-in if you combine a 40th Street Trailhead start with the Freedom Trail loop).

A great hike in close proximity to the city. Great for a morning hike.
