First took some time to visit the historic buildings and exhibits. After that I toured the grounds and enjoyed the sights surrounding the fort.  I also took the time to hike 3 of the trails located within the fort boundaries. Very beautiful views of the mountains and of the wildflowers.

Clayton’s Overlook is a moderate hike at the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Research Center. This climb will take you to the highest spot in the park. Visit the Chihuhuan Desert Institute website for an area map and additional information. 

Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center & Botanical Garden is a loop trail that is approximately 1-mile located near Fort Davis, TX. This is a family-friendly hike with very minimal elevation gain that can be done in about 20 mins. This trail is dog friendly on-leash.
