Great hike through the open grassfields of this Birding Park

This is a great and easy hike through the Seven Islands Birding State Park. This park is located in east Knoxville and is one only 20 minutes from downtown Knoxville. The trail starts at the Seven Islands Birding Park parking lot that has a beautiful garden with lots of wildflowers. The trail is the main paved trail that starts next to the bathrooms/information center. The trail runs through the fields of the park and all the way to the river. The trail is .90 miles in one direction. The trail leads to the Tennessee River and an amazing pedestrian bridge that goes over the river to one of the seven islands. On the island there are more hiking trails that are beautiful and is a very large area. The trails on the island offer a unique experience and a great place to see wildlife. To get back to the parking lot simply go back the way you came along the paved trail. You can bike along the Bobwhite trail but you can not bike on the island so you can either leave your bike unattended or just hike the trail.
