Description

Enjoy an easy but scenic loop along the salt marsh in a National Wildlife Refuge.
Pull into the well marked Wildlife Refuge off Port Rd. There's several official building as well as an interpretive center and bathroom very close to the parking lot.
The only trail, the Carson Trail, is feet from the parking area. It's an extremely well groomed gravel trail easily accessible for even wheelchairs. Find wildlife along the salt march, including birds of prey as you stroll through the forest, as well as other animals throughout the preserve. Take time at each of the lookouts to find some rare species like the black-crowned heron or the short eared owl. Binoculars and a camera are a must if you're into birding or are looking to see something out of the norm.

Reviews
Excellent little trail! Brought two of my dogs and they both loved it. Good open views of marsh lands and in one area a great view of large waves crashing onto shore! Easy trail fun for all.
