The Gower Gulch Loop Trail is a 4.2 mile hike in Death Valley National Park featuring stunning rock walls with unusual colors and lots of different landforms and rock formations.
The Gower Gulch Trail is a surreal desert landscape. Golden Canyon is very colorful, and the short side trail to Red Cathedral i swell worth the scramble up the dry falls. The view of the valley from a higher vantage point is priceless. The portion of the hike in Gower Gulch features subtle canyon beauty with textured and patterned walls. There is no shade along this trail so make sure to have lots of water (more than you think you'll need).
No matter what the weather - bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Even on cloudy days, the UV from the sun is intense in Death Valley. Bring a map and be careful about staying on the right trail, there are lots of tempting offshoots into gullies and slopes. This hike is amazing at sunset - but be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp for your hike out.
