Description
Added by John Maurizi
This seldom hiked loop follows the shore line of Hank's Pond then enters the forest for a long loop. Loop can be hiked in either direction.
Hank's Pond loop can be accessed from the south at the corner of Clinton road and Van Orden road or from the north, parking at the lot on Stephens road. I hiked from the south on this trip. Follow the wide trail known as Hank's East trail marked with white blazes. Soon you will reach a trail connected marked with blue blazes. Along this connector are several short access trails to Hank's Pond and offer the best scenery on the hike. The connector will end on Hank's West Trail marked with blue over white blazes. This trail follows a generally straight line passing Hank's Pond and entering the forest. After about 3 miles on Hank's West Trail, you exit onto Stephens road where the trail ends. Turn right and follow the road for a short distance until you reach Hank's East Trail on the right. Follow all the way back to the trailhead for a 7 mile loop.
Note: This trail in on Pequannock Watershed property. Hiking is permitted by permit only and cost $14 per year.
