The Mayfield Park Lake Trail is an easy trail and perfect for wildlife watching and especially exotic birds.
Mayfield Nature Preserve is a 21-acre park located just west of downtown Austin, Texas. This nature preserve is unique from all other parks in Austin in that it that features free-roaming peacocks. It's a beautiful park full of beautiful nature and the trail leads down near the lake.
The trail is not completely level and is not paved and thus is not very handicap-friendly, however the area in which the peacocks roam is handicap accessible. Parking is very limited and located at the trailhead. Once parking reaches capacity, you are able to park on the street, right outside the entrance. The streets are narrow so be weary of oncoming traffic!
The park and trail are extremely kid-friendly, though dogs are NOT allowed. Keep in mind that there are also NO bathrooms.
