Avoid the crowds of Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks and visit the towering Sierra Redwoods in Calaveras Big Trees State Park.
When thinking of the iconic Sequoias of the Sierra Nevada, one usually thinks of Yosemite and Sequoia National Park. However, there is a often forgotten area of Giant Sierra Redwoods that gets far less traffic than the more popular groves.
The North Grove Trail takes you through a grove of over 100 Giant Sequoias. The trail starts and ends in the North Grove Parking Lot.
The trail is a relatively short and flat loop that meanders through the grove showing off some of the biggest trees in the world. Along the way, there are markers detailing the history of some of the most famous trees in the park like The Big Stump, The Father of the Forest, and the Granite State Tree.
Because this area has a very fragile environment, make sure to stay on the trail and follow the directions of the trail signs.

Reviews
Big Trees is an amazing place and is a great place for the hole family to enjoy and it is not a crowed as the late national parks.
