This is a nice loop hike through an old growth forest. There are no views but it is a pleasant hike with minimal elevation gain.

The Osborn Loop trail itself is not a loop. It connects to a 2.5 mile section of the Appalachian Trail. Hiking these together creates the loop. Start at the trail head for the Appalachian Trail on South Mountain Pass Road. There is parking for two or three cars. Walk up the road a short distance until you see the white markers for the Appalachian Trail. This is the steepest section as you climb up the ridge.

You will eventually reach a trail junction with the Osborn Loop Trail, designated by blue markers. Turn left and follow for 5 miles until it ends further north on the Appalachian Trail. When you reach the end of the Osborn Loop Trail, turn right on the Appalachian Trail heading south until you reach South Mountain Pass re.

There are no views on this loop hike but in June, the Mountain Laurels are blooming.
