The Pine City and Pine City Canyon Trail is an out-and-back trail in Joshua Tree National Park that is great for scenic solitude and is enjoyable for all skill levels.
The Pine City Canyon Trail features beautiful wildflowers in the spring. As you approach Pine Canyon, the views become very unique: there's a large gash in a rock that is Pine Canyon. The canyon stretches for quite a distance and the view is amazing. The rock formations are very unique.
When you get to the sign stating that the trail is not maintained past that point, you will find an excellent picnic or water break spot under a pine or in a rock formation. The trailhead is on a well maintained dirt road, and there is a bathroom in the parking lot.
The trail spurs pat Pine City to a scenic overlook - well worth the extra mile (roundtrip) this adds to your trek.
