The Quarry Trail In Auburn State Recreation Area is 4.0 miles from Auburn, California and is 3.2 miles from Cool, California. The Quarry Trail is for all skill levels and can cater to almost anyone who wants to simply get outside for a day.

Parking in the Auburn State Recreation Area parking lot has a cost of $10.00.  Free parking is allowed on the right side of the road located on the right after driving over the bridge.  From here the Quarry Trail parking lot and Trail head are a short walking distance ahead on the left side of the road.  The trail is basically a service road for the Park Rangers leading up to the picnic area.  For the most part the entire trail is flat.  Once at the picnic area, hang left and climb up a short distance to check out the Climbing Area.  The rock walls in the climbing area are made up of Limestone and other minerals.

Turn left at the picnic area to continue on the Quarry Trail.  Throughout this adventure during the Autumn/Winter months, the surrounding landscapes are a great deal greener than in the hotter months.  The cooler seasons of the year make for a quite different experience.  If you enjoy nature, basking in a hammock- there are multiple places along the trail as you explore that a hammock could be hung.

The Quarry Trail also features not only amazing natural landscape but also a rock Quarry and some old foundations of a bridge.  Exploring in the Auburn State Recreation Area, bear witness to Ponderosa Pine and Douglas Fir.   When the adventure is over.  heading home via I-80 West stop at Fosters Freeze for a tasty dinner!
