An nature walk by the river and through the woods to give you a feel for the town of Red River.
The Red River Nature Trail starts right in town next to the Platinum Lift off Pioneer Road. The trail travels 2 miles to Goose Lake Road. The hike itself can be taken as a two or four mile hike, depending on weather you access it point to point or out and back.
We started the trail behind the visitor center and crossed over the river with a beautiful covered bridge. The path then follows the river, sweeping up the side of the mountain and back down in various parts. There are many access points to the nature trail, as it follows the town east to west.
You’ll be sure to spot some deer off the trail, they are friendly in the town, along with sights of other critters!
At one point the trail does follow underneath the Copper Chairlift of the resort, so if you are hiking during winter operating hours, keep an eye out for skiers where the trail intersects with the mountain.
Along the trail you’ll see signs that indicate the turns and unsure moments, along with educational signs that tell you about the trees and other plants in the area. You’ll have gorgeous sights to your north of the opposite side of the valley, and when you can’t see the views you’ll be swallowed by evergreens.
You’ll also find various spots with benches and picnic tables where the trail finds itself near the river.
This trail is overall an easy take, and a great way to get a feel for the scale and size of the town!
