Description

Hike the Rockefeller Preserve loop to get a spectacular view of Phelps Lake and also hike along the beautiful Lake Creek.
The Rockefeller Preserve loop starts from a gravel trail that begins in the parking lot. The gravel pathway leads to a meadow and then goes right up to the visitor center. From the visitor center the trail continues to a thick forest that parallels the scenic Lake Creek. The trail leads around the shore of Phelps Lake before looping back around to head out.
For those looking for an easy day hike in the Tetons, I would recommend this hike. Very easy hiking and the hike is very pretty. A thick forest also makes this hike like something out of a fairytale. Bring some bear spray.

Reviews
This hike is high reward for relatively little effort. It does tend to be a bit busy, especially in the summer. Do make sure to watch out for bears as I have seen them on this trail.

We enjoyed hiking Phelps Lake today. We took the western trail around the lake, which was much more scenic than the eastern trail that we returned on. We saw 2 moose! We also added the Phelps Lake overlook trail, which was a little disappointing but not so challenging that we felt bummed out.

If you are in the Tetons for a few days, this is definitely a must do. Not only is there really cool history associated with the trail, but the views are stunning for the ease of the hike. There is also great wildlife around the trail and preserve if you keep your eyes out. Loved it! Great rest day hike!
