The San Gabriel River City Trail is a 7.6 mile trail with beautiful views and a small waterfall.
The San Gabriel River trailhead is found within Cedar Breaks Park, just northeast of Georgetown, Texas. The trail is a 7.6 mile moderate out-and-back trail. The trail is heavily trafficked and even more so on weekends. There are several inclines and declines, but nothing too significant. The trail has rough terrain so hiking boots/sturdy shoes are highly recommended. It also follows along the banks of Lake Georgetown with several grand overlooks of the lake. The trail ends with a gorgeous grotto and a small waterfall.
Parking can be found right at the trailhead, though you'll (usually) have to have purchased a day/camping pass to access this. Sometimes you can let park rangers know you are just there to hike and they will grant you access. Though if it's a busy day and they deny you entrance, you can park in the dirt lot located right outside of the park and walk. Hiking is allowed and is free.
The park is kid- and dog-friendly, just be sure to pick up after them! It is worth noting that much of the hike around the lake is on a cliff that overhangs the lake, so be cautious. Because of the trail's terrain, this is a handicap accessible hike.
