Hike the Spruce Brook Ravine

Working my way to the West side of the state, a friend recently helped me discover Naugatuck State Park in Naugatuck, CT. After driving up and around curvy roads, we entered the forest (with a lot of potholes).

Here is a map of the park. The parking I am talking about here is the "P" symbol next to the Naugatuck River and off of Spruce Brook Rd and Cold Spring Rd. The parking lot is located next to railroad tracks along the Naugatuck River. Facing the river, you will have you walk right on Cold Springs Rd. for a short distance then the trailhead will open to the right where the Spruce Brook Ravine Trail will begin. It follows the river (or there will be another blue blaze to the left in the beginning of the trail for a longer loop.) Get ready for waterfall heaven!

The Spruce Brook Trailhead on this side of the park is a simple walk and each waterfall has a unique shape to it and makes it hard to not stop and stare every five minutes. It is a great trail to explore, but be cautious on the wet days, some parts of the trail may be very slippery.
