Description

This is a beautiful walk in the Brisbane Ranges with several scenic lookouts just outside Melbourne. With a few challenging hills, it's a great way to spend an afternoon at any time of the year.
The hike is quite well marked, identified by blue markers, but as this park has several trails that cross paths, make sure to bring your map. It is twelve kms and there are some hills, but it is overall a relatively easy hike.
There is lots of wildlife in the park, so look out for lots of beautiful birds and echidnas!
Starting at the picnic area, start the walk by heading along the management track at the top of the car park. Follow the signs which head off on the Anakie Gorge Walk until you reach the intersection where the circuit starts to the left (the initial section is Nelson's Track). This first section is one long hill and the most challenging part of the walk. Keep your eye out in this first section for Nelson's Lookout, where you get a stunning view from the top at a short out-and-back.
Follow the track then until you hit the Aqueduct Track, which follows both a trail and shortly a management track until you get back onto the trail when you meet up with the Razorback track. Finally, the Razorback Track intersects with the Outlook Track, where you turn right to head back towards Stony Creek Picnic Area.
From Stony Creek Picnic Area, follow the road to the right until you see signs to the Anakie Car Park to the right (3kms).
