This is a great loop hike starting in the town of Seyðisfjörður to a unique sound sculpture, past numerous waterfalls, and with breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
Park at the gravel lot across from the Brimberg Fish Factory (the parking lot is marked with a sign for Tvísöngur). Walk up the gravel road in the back of the parking lot, which has a few switchbacks and after 10-15 minutes you will arrive at Tvísöngur.
Tvísöngur is a sound sculpture that was built in 2012. It has five individual chambers constructed of concrete that are supposed to mimic the sounds of a five-tone harmony. Try standing in each chamber and singing!
From the sculpture, follow the yellow-tipped wooden stakes up the hill and you'll level out on a plateau. You'll stay on this plateau until you drop back down into town. From the plateau are breathtaking views of Seyðisfjörður to your right, and waterfalls to your left. Be aware that there are many, many stream crossings.
Eventually you'll come to a rock cairn summit marker, which has a bucket with a visitor log to sign. From here, the trail will descend steeply down the mountain. When you reach the trail junction by the residential homes, turn right and wind through a small coniferous forest. Turn left at the next trail junction by the waterfall, which will put you back on the main road by the boat yard. Turn right and walk along the road for 0.3 miles to return to your car.
