Studded with valley oaks and rolling hills, this 2,983 parkland is home to a plethora of wildlife, offering an extensive trail system perfect for hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians.

The most popular point of entry is through the Victory Trailhead, which has ample parking. You can park on the street or you can pay $3 to park at the trailhead parking lot. You can also enter at the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Trailhead at the northern end of Las Virgenes Canyon Road in Calabasas.

Once you are in, it is easy to forget about city life outside. There are a plethora of connecting trails, of varying difficulty, all in very good condition.

The main trail inside the park is the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve Trail, an 8.6 mile loop that takes you around the majority of the park. The tail starts  at the Victory Trailhead and meanders through rolling grassy hills before heading northwest towards the Las Virgenes Canyon. If you are interested in exploring the caves, there are many junctions that head towards the canyons. Although all of the junctions are unmarked, they are short and it is pretty easy to navigate back to the main trail!

There are man unmapped trails and junctions that were created by the mountain bikers/equestrians, so to be safe, it is recommended that you bring a map. I also usually pack in a small picnic to eat on one of the rolling hills while watching the sunset! Dogs are allowed as long as they are on a leash.

The trails are open to hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians during daylight hours. Gates will close after sunset, so make sure you time your adventure correctly! Finally, keep your eye out for wildlife! There are many coyote, birds, frogs and snakes that like to call this place home.
