If you find yourself at the remarkable Lake Bled in Slovenia with time to spare, I highly recommend this as a half day adventure.

This gorge is only 3.5km northwest of Lake Bled, Slovenia, making it a wonderful side trip in your Slovenian adventure. It offers lush green vegetation, clear blue water, and is easy enough for anyone to hike (even in sandals). The one meandering path from the parking lot is well maintained and follows the Radovna River as it snakes through the gorge.

The Radovna carved out 160-330ft walls which makes being inside the gorge really feel like you're immersed in earth's raw elements. The river ranges from calm pools to rapids to waterfalls, making it quite exciting for such a short hike. The wooden trail crosses the river many times giving you up close and personal views from observation bridges and you may even get wet from the mist.

The trail ends at the 13 meter high Šum waterfall, which is a perfect place to relax on the rocks and take in the scenes. From there the gorge opens up and you can start to see the peaks of surrounding mountains. Coming back, you're greeted with different perspectives of the Radovna, and It's a great way to finish a relaxing hike.

It’s a beautiful little canyon, but if you’ve ever seen anything remotely similar it might not be worth the trouble. Quite crowded and the main section only really takes ~15-20 min to walk through.

Oh man do Europeans take their time. I'm from New York so a single-file walk way for three miles was not fun. It's also not a loop... you walk all the way to the waterfall (which was like not amazing compared to all the other waterfalls) and then all the way back the same way. People are so slow and it was JAM PACKED. The water was stunning and crystal clear and green and awesome.
