This is my favorite hike to take my dog on in the Ogden area. There are almost always other dogs my dog can play with. It follows a stream through a canyon and also has lots of forest that keeps you cool in the summer. It is a great short loop hike great for families.

To get to the trailhead from Ogden drive up Ogden Canyon toward Pine View Reservoir. Right when the canyon begins to open up and you can see the actual dam there is a turn off on the south side of the road that leads down a dirt road to a very small parking area and the trailhead. If the parking area is full there is some additional parking just off of the Ogden Canyon Road. If you see the water in Pine View you've gone too far.

The trail starts out in a canyon and you are unable to see the stream until you have hiked for about 10 minutes and then the stream will be on your left. The trail is uphill for the first half and isn't incredibly steep but definitely a workout. The trail is very wide at this point and popular with mountain bikers and I've even seen a few horses. It is very popular in the winter for snowshoes and cross country skis.

Eventually you will reach Ard and Nord Dr trailhead. There are outhouses at this trailhead. You can head back to the car the same way you came from this trailhead or there is another trailhead that heads west and towards Snow Basin Ski Resort. The trail will continue up a bit and run parallel to the closed down Old Snow Basin Road.

The trail will begin to head down hill for a bit and you will come to one fork. Take the right fork and it will lead you down into Icebox Canyon. This is my favorite part of the hike. It is a narrow trail through a beautiful forest next to a small stream. There are three bridges during this section.

Eventually you will reach back up to the original trail that you started on. Head north, downhill, back towards your car.
