Historically rich trail along the Continental Divide connecting the Zuni and Acoma pueblos. An exciting adventure peppered with lava flows and rock cairns.
There is a parking area just east of where the Continental Divide intersects the 53. Park here and walk west just a short distance to hop onto the Continental Divide/Zuni-Acoma Trail. This trail ends at the 117. Go the whole way or just as far as you please.
This trail connects the pueblos of the Zuni and Acoma. Most of the trail is part of the Continental Divide between Canada and Mexico. You will traverse lava flows and rock cairns. These dried lava flows served as homesteads for many families migrating during the Great Depression. You may discover pottery remnants from the Zuni and Acoma. Do not remove these as they are precious artifacts that lose their historical and anthropological value when they are taken out of the park.
