Description

A multitude of connecting trails allows for a quick trip or a longer afternoon hiking in the fresh air.

New in May 2016, the Scioto Grove Metro Park has about 600 acres of land in Grove City, OH. There are more than 7 total miles of connecting trails as well as picnic areas and jungle gyms.

Easy to navigate, there are park maps at all major trail junctions, which makes this hike enjoyable for all. The trails nearest the parking lot are asphalt and gravel. As you venture back into the park they give way to dirt and grass.

Most of the crowds of families are near the bathrooms, pavilions, and short trails, but you can get some quiet time on the Mingo Trail. This one would also be great for some trail/cross country running.

REI donated money to have 5 "backpacking" sites made at various points. They consist of 2 tent spots and a fire pit at each. It is definitely beginner backpacking as the sites are often just a few yards off the trail and not very private.

They have NO TRASH CANS ON SITE. Just be prepared to haul out any excess food, wrappers, and if you have a dog.... well... I suggest bringing a large freezer bag for put the poop bags in.

The address for the park entrance is:
5172 Jackson Pike
Grove City, OH 43123

Reviews

Went before spring, it was quite clean and a comfortable hike

My son and I spent the night on their new backpacking trial. We were very impressed! Site #3, where we stayed, is likely the newest tent site, so it had no trees and it was butted up alongside a general purpose building in the construction phase. Still, it was very quite and close to the public restroom with running water!
