Barret Knob is an out-and-back hike to a 360 degree view of the blue ridge mountains! Amazing hike to a great viewpoint and a great tower.
Your hike will start at the base of the Blue Ridge Parkway just a few miles from the start in Cherokee. The trail starts right off of the parkway in a very small easy to miss dirt road. There is a small area to park that then you start your hike up the dirt road right after the gate. The hike to the top is about a half mile. It is a small hike up is pretty steep. When you get to the top you can walk through the gate then climb up to the top of the tower. From the top of the tower you can see for hundreds of miles and you can see all the way to Cherokee, North Carolina. Also at the top is an abandoned house that has some cool areas to look at.

Good uphill walk. You definitely will pass the hidden road. When you get on the blue ridge keep going. It is further down than what it leads to be. You will go through two tunnels. Keep going down and if you start going back down it means you have passed it. When we went the gate was open and you can just drive up to it. We decided to just park at the gate and do the walk. Was hoping to be able to go into the tower but it is locked. You can still go up it. Was a fun a leisure walk.
