Description

Added by Scott Sichler

A trail to the top of a hill overlooking a wild section of the Oregon Coast.

Cascade Head on the Oregon Coast sits a top a 270 acre preserve protected by the Nature Conservancy and is a National Scenic Research Area and a United Nations Biosphere Reserve. From the south trail head at Knight Park the trail winds through an old growth coastal forest before climbing 1200 vertical feet to a wild flower filled meadow with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and the Salmon River Estuary. If you are lucky you might see the herd of elk that call this home in the winter.

The upper trail head is closed to vehicles from January 1 - July 15. During the closure, starting at the south is only way to access Hart's Cove.
