Hike to an easily accessible 70' waterfall just off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Starting from the old store parking area at MP 339.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, follow the trail through a meadow past the campground amphitheater. After crossing the paved road to the campground, the trail will come to a T-intersection. Take the trail to the right for the shortest way to the falls.
The trail will descend steeply with a couple of switchbacks and some constructed stone steps. Soon you will begin to hear the roar of the falls. At the base of the falls there is a bridge crossing the river and some rocks to sit on.
Once done exploring the falls, simply retrace your steps and follow the steep trail back up to the parking area.
**This hike can also be done as a loop if you cross the bridge and continue on the trail. It is 1.6 miles from the falls back to the "T-intersection" described above. If you take the loop, then turn right back at the T to return to the old store parking lot.

These falls are beautiful, especially when the water is really flowing. Bring a wide angle lens and tripod to capture the drama of the flowing water from a low angle.

Did this one over the weekend - was an easy hike for the most part. The falls are an incredible payoff for the effort. If you choose not to do the full loop - it's all downhill to the falls and all uphill to the parking area. The trail is well maintained and well traveled. Really enjoyed the short down and back day hiking along the Blue Ridge.

If you are in the area, this is a must see. The hike in is pretty easy but if you follow the loop out it’s a pretty good uphill climb.

This was an easy and fairly quick hike. The forest was absolutely beautiful and the falls were super cool, especially since we went right after it had rained. Make sure to climb up the rocks right under the water you can see rainbows!

This is by-far one of my favorite waterfalls. This unique waterfall is abnormally wide and allows you to walk right up under it. The spray from the waterfall crashing on the rocks combined with the soft roar of the water is incredibly relaxing. This is a must-go if in the area!

Me and my family did this hike on a warm day in January and it was splendid. The trailhead is clearly marked and we had no problem finding the trail even during the off season. The trail was well maintained with moderate terrain. We did the loop counter clockwise which made the descent down to the falls short and steep, but easy. The falls is beautiful, and worth every step. The pictures really don't do it justice. The trail immediately following the falls was very steep but it shortly leveled out and made for a peaceful walk along the stream back to the camp ground.
