This hike through the Gifford Pinchot National Forest leads to Fall Creek Falls, a 220-foot, three tiered waterfall.
The trail to Falls Creek Falls is well maintained with a few short moderately steep areas. The trail hugs the creek for the first mile, and takes you through old growth trees for the second mile. Once the falls are in sight, make sure to stop and look up to see the top tier through the trees. It's not visible otherwise. The trail ends with with an impressive view of the middle and lower tier.
If you're feeling adventurous and don't mind the spray from the falls, scramble to the small ledge below for a different perspective and photo op. Back at the top, you can get to the base of the middle tier, over the giant rocks, under some fallen trees, and up a steep path of loose dirt and exposed roots. It requires a little more skill, but so worth it.
Keep in mind that the road is closed from Dec 1st - April 1st, so if you go during that time, add an extra 4 miles to the hike.

Well worth the hike. Even new hikers can do this one, we had two 7 year old kids with us. Can get crowded.

The road leading in has so many pot holes it feels never ending but I hike and scenery are well worth it.

This was an amazing hike! It’s not very difficult and it’s beautiful every step of the way. When you get to the falls it’s a nice place to chill and have a snack. Take some pictures and then head back. The dense forest is so stunning!

Did this hike with my dad in a little less than 2 hours. There wasn't too much elevation and gain and the trail was well maintained. This was a great autumn hike with plenty of fall colors along the trail. Once you get to the falls, there are a few different viewpoints to see the falls. In terms of crowds, we went on a Friday and maybe saw 10 people along the trail. If you're worried about losing service and navigation, as you head into the forrest on Wind River Rd (from PDX), there will be a sign on the right-hand side pointing to the trailhead. Also, we made the drive in a rental camry, so low clearance is possible, but with how many potholes there are in the last mile, higher clearance would have been nice.

The trail to Falls Creek Falls was an easy hike that required little effort - perfect for every age and skill level. The falls are just stunning. I could have sat there for hours watching the water flow over the two tiers. The trail was fairly busy on a Sunday afternoon, but never felt too crowded. Highly recommend!

This is just as incredible as Panther Creek Falls, and the thundering roar of the falls is awesome! The pictures don't do justice of just how big it really is, definitely one of my new favorite falls. The hike in was extremely beautiful as well full of massive trees and interesting small scenes.

I'm a native of the PNW and just finally did this hike today- my only regret is not doing it sooner! This is such a wonderful hike to do with family and/or friends, and especially with anyone visiting from out of town. Beautiful views and scenery the entire way to the Falls, lots of photo opps. The Falls are so impressive, recommend over many of the popular falls on the Oregon side. We brought some food to enjoy at the picnic table at the end of the hike back. Can't recommend this one enough!

Great trail, long walk if the gate is closed, but worth it for sure. If you don't want to walk an addition 3+ miles each way, be sure to go in the summer when the gate is open. If not, this is a great winter hike with a unique falls.

A great hike to take with a friend. The tip about the third tier is true, can't see it except from the trail. Furry friends welcome but please keep on a leash. Great write up and photos!
