Description

The Goodwin Lake Trail is a 6.2 mile loop trail in Grand Teton National Park that features a beautiful lake located near Jackson, Wyoming.

This trail is moderately rated and is primarily used for hiking, walking, and exploring. The beginning of the trail is rather steep. Stretches of elevation gain can be quite challenging, but the views are well worth the exertion and the trail does level off after the initial incline. There are some shaded portions of the trail that offer relief from the sun, but be sure to bring an adequate amount of water with you.

Reaching Goodwin Lake is a nice treat as it’s a great place for swimming! Bring a swimsuit to take a mid-hike refreshing dip! Pack a snack and relax on the rocks. But take caution as many have reported lots of horseflies on this trail. Bring bug repellent for protection!

The trail is best used in the summer or fall and is also dog friendly. It is important to note that the drive up to the trailhead is rather bumpy. There is a sign posted on the road to warn you of this. Make sure your vehicle can handle rough terrain.

Reviews

This hike is NOT in GTNP, it is in the Gros Ventre wilderness. Therefore it is dog-friendly. Bear spray should be on your list!
