Easily accessed in the winter, this is an awesome short hike from Echo Lake in the Mount Evans Wilderness Area.
This is a great hiking area an hour outside of Denver, Colorado. It's still easily accessible in the winter and most of the time it can be hiked without snowshoes.
Starting at the Echo Lake parking lot, hike around the right side of the lake until you reach a fork in the trail. Follow the path on your right until it leads you down into the valley and across the creek. Shortly after the crossing you'll find a road - turn left here. Follow this a short distance until you reach the reservoir, and for the best view considering hiking around and to the left a bit when you get there. This is a great sunrise hike when the weather is nice.
