Pristine hot springs, waterfall, and forest make for an unforgettable excursion into New Mexico backcountry.

Turn right off of the 4 onto Camp Shaver Ln. This takes you to a parking area with a sign for Battleship Rock Campsite. This is where the trail begins. It will take you to hot springs and Jemez falls. Dog-friendly trail, accessible year round.

The area is amazing but be careful not to get lost coming from the Battleship Rock Trailhead. Having a map is helpful, but about a mile and a half in I lost the trail. There are occasional carins but it is still difficult to navigate without GPS. I ended up turing back and getting to the springs by hiking from the Jemez Falls trailhead. This was off season when the campground was closed so you have to hike in from the main road. Longer hike but the trail was much more established, plus you get a nice overlook and it is a short hike to the falls. The springs were relaxing and definitely unique!

Great hike to the springs, make sure you pay attention to trail signs as it can be difficult staying on the trail. Lots of overbrush making it a challenge to figure out where you are going if you are new to the trail. Overall great experience with relaxing hot spring
