Peak 5057 via Hieroglyphic Trail is a hike to the Summit of the Highest Peak on the Superstition Ridgeline, near Gold Canyon, Arizona.
To get to the trailhead from US60, turn north onto Kings Ranch Road where you will begin the winding path through the neighborhoods. From Kings Ranch Road, turn east on Baseline Ave, north on Mohican Road, west on Valley View Drive, north on Whitetail Road, and east on Cloudview Ave until it comes to a dead end at the trailhead parking lot.
Once at the trailhead, start out on the trail through the gate. Soon you will reach an intersection, where you will stay left on Hieroglyphic Trail. In 1.5 miles, you will reach the hieroglyphs where the true adventure of this hike begins. After enjoying the hieroglyphs, look down the canyon and start locating the cairns that you will follow until you reach the summit of Peak 5057.
While following the cairns you will stay on the right side of the canyon as you gain more and more elevation. About 1.5 miles after the hieroglyphs you will reach a saddle, where Weavers Needle comes into view. From this saddle, turn right and follow the ridge-line and the cairns. Soon the trail will have you facing a large formation, where you will see cairns leading you around the left side of the feature. The trail may seem like it's taking you away from the summit, but stick to it, and at any intersections just stay right. Soon the trail will take a sharp right and you will now be on the final accent to the summit.
On the summit, there are two summit markers and a geocash box. Leave a note in the box, and then enjoy some much deserved summit snacks as you take in the incredible 360 views.
After you've had your fill of the views, head back down the way you came, and be extra careful on the loose rock as you make your decent.
For a shorter hike, check out Hieroglyphic Trail.
