Description

Added by Jason Horstman

Witness a 100-foot tiered amphitheater waterfall flowing at its peaks during the winter months with this short out-and-back hike requiring minimal effort through old growth forest.

Hike:
The hike to Pheasant Creek Falls is just short continuation of nearby Niagara Falls. After reaching Niagara Falls, continue on the trail for about another 300 feet and you'll reach the more impressive, Pheasant Creek Falls.

For more detailed information including a trail map and directions to the trailhead, visit fs.usda.gov.

Directions:
Getting to the trailhead can be a bit tricky, as one online source suggested turning off FR 8533 prematurely. From Tillamook, drive south on Hwy 101, until reaching Blaine Road, which you take for 6 miles. At Blaine Junction travel east on Upper Nestucca River Road for 5.8 miles to Forest Service Road 8533. Go south 4.3 miles to Forest Service Road 8533-131. Turn right at the junction (there will be sign pointing towards Niagara Falls TH) and travel 0.7 miles to trailhead parking (approx coordinates: 45.213409,-123.626961).

Coming from the south we found directions to be very confusing. The original google maps took us to a gated logging road that left us confused. We lost service and then retreated to find service again. After a bit of confusion and map examining we found the correct path! If you are coming from the south (Dallas, Salem, Corvallis) area you might wanna take this approach. Arrive into the town of Willamina and head west on NW Main st., then head on SW Willamina Creek Dr until you read a fork for SW Coast Creek Rd. (Take the left onto SW Coast Creek Rd.)and head west until you come to a fork (going left will be a gravel road and the right will lead you up a hill) take the right and head up the mountain. This road is Gilbert Creek Rd. Stay on this for a few miles until you reach a junction to go left or right, take a left onto SW Bible creek road and follow it till you get to road 85. This is a long road and winding. Take a left on road 85 and you should see a sign for Niagara Falls. You will enter onto a gravel road and follow it for 5-6 miles. You will find that both Niagara Falls andPheasant falls are literally 800 feet away from each other. Beautiful falls and beautiful terrain. Realistically this hike is only 3 miles.

Such a great hike! A little hard to find but once you're on the trail, it's all easy. The falls were beautiful and worth the short hike.
