Walk along the Appalachian Trail to a gorgeous meadow with wide-open views!

Park at the Upper Falls Village Recreational Area. From the parking lot turn left onto the road. You will then take a right turn in just a moment onto the white-blazed Appalachian Trail. In a few minutes you will emerge into a small clearing. Follow the trail until it leads back into the woods.

Keep following the white blazes of the Appalachian Trail until you reach the summit of Mt. Prospect. At the summit you will find a rocky little clearing with a beautiful, view off to your right.

After a break at the summit you will continue on the white-blazed Appalachian Trail. After several minutes you will reach a junction for the Limestone Shelter. Take a right here to continue downhill along the Appalachian Trail. In just a moment you will emerge into a beautiful large meadow known as Rand's View!

Once you take it all in retrace your steps back to your vehicle.

I suggest you take the time to view the Great Falls. The Housatonic River drops over the hydro electric dam at the parking area. You can follow an informal path that leads to several dramatic views of Great Falls.
