A relatively short hike to some beautiful alpine lakes close to West Glacier, Montana.
Starting out at the Sperry Trailhead, adjacent to Lake McDonald Lodge, climb along the trail until you see the branch off to your left for Snyder Lakes. Continue climbing through wooded trees with glimpses of the surrounding mountains until reaching the lower lake. There is not much for a trail to the upper lake, but it's a relatively painless bushwhack. Catch a few fish, take a cold dive, or just bask in the glory of this beautiful basin. Backcountry camping is permitted, but you must get your permit in advance from the Backcountry Ranger Station in Apgar.

Reviews
My husband made a comment that he wanted to do a decently challenging hike while in Glacier NP, and this definitely fulfilled that! It was beautiful, but be sure to bring plenty of water, protein snacks, and TONS OF BUGSPRAY! We wanted to grab a bear bell as well, instead we played music from our phones. Muddy in some spots so be careful. Tough but well worth it!
