Description

Stoddard Lake is a beautiful alpine lake in the Trinity Alps Wilderness that can be accessed from a 7 mile hike through glorious forests.
The trail is a bit rocky, so wear sturdy hiking boots or trail runners. While your elevation gain is only 800 total, you will travel upwards of 1,982ft in elevation given the ups and downs of the trail. At mile 1.75, there is a spring that feeds into a large meadow. At mile 3, there is another spring and the turnoff to the left for Stoddard Lake (the trail to the right takes you to Doe Lake). You will have to do a little scrambling for the last half mile. When you reach the lake, pick a spot for a picnic and take a swim. The granite mountains that jut form the opposite shore are breathtaking. This is a great trail if you are looking for solitude!
The road to the trailhead can be rough - 4x4 is recommended.

Reviews
This was a really easy and beautiful hike. It is a very steady incline the entire time. The lake was beautiful, nice to take a swim after the long hike. Can be kid and pet friendly!
