A scenic hike past mountain huts in high alpine terrain.
The hike from the Oberiss Alm mountain pastures to the Franz Senn Hut in the Stubai Valley in Tirol is a wonderful hike for the whole family.
The hike starts from the Oberissalm, a remote farmhouse surrounded by alpine meadows. Here you'll find a paid parking area and working farmhouse serving food and drinks.
The trail is well marked and starts right from the car park. It begins as a gravel road but after a few hundred meters, narrows into a rockier hiking trail with a few switchbacks as you climb upwards.
As you reach the next plateau, you'll see the next mountain hut, the Alpein Alm. You can stop here for a break, or continue onwards a little further to the end of the hike, the Franz Senn Hutte, which you'll now see up ahead.
The Franz Senn hut is usually open in the summer months from June until September, sometimes early October depending on the conditions.
