Snow-capped mountains in the distance, gushing rivers, thick forest and spectacular views.. Hike to the Hoodoos lookout instead of driving.
The beginning of this hike is easily accessed from the town center of Banff by the Bow river. Perfect for those without a car! Follow the trail on the side closest to town as it leads up the Bow River and into the forest following the signs for Hoodoos Loop.
The hike is 4.8km one way, leading around the base of Tunnel Mountain and along the Bow River, to eventually reach the multiple lookouts over the Hoodoos.
The trail has a gradual elevation of 90 meters and easily doable for even the amateur hiker, but provides spectacular views over the Bow Valley and the snow capped Mount Rundle throughout the hike.
If you are not up for the 4.1km hike back to the town center, follow the loop trail until you reach a small town where you can catch a local bus back to Banff for $2.
