Four Mile Trail to Union Point is perfect if you are a first time visitor or a life-long Yosemite aficionado.
Four Mile Trail is steep, but hikers efforts are more than rewarded. Union Point sits above Yosemite Valley at 6,332 feet - offering sweeping views of El Capitan and the valley entrance to the left, and North Dome / Half Dome & Clouds Rest to the right. You can also see Yosemite Falls straight ahead.
The trail often closes in the winter due to snowfall - but can be scrambled / snowshoed in the winter if you are cautious. The trail is very well maintained in spring, summer, and autumn.
If you are not done hiking when you get to Moran Point (but remember you still have to go back down!) continue another 1.7 miles up to Glacier Point.
Max group size on the trail is 12 and dogs are not allowed.
**Practice bear safety - bears are very active right now (early November). Do not leave any food out, pick up any wrappers you drop, be aware of your surroundings, report any bear sightings to a ranger**
